The helicopters for the UK will be the first export examples of the Block II variant. The images show that fuselage assembly has been completed and paint has been applied.
Boeing has also started installing individual structural elements and equipment. The work marks the next stage in production of the first aircraft for the British order.
The UK has ordered 14 CH-47F Chinook Block II helicopters. The aircraft will allow Britain to retire the oldest CH-47 Chinooks in its military aviation fleet.

Under current plans, the Boeing-built helicopters will continue to serve as heavy-lift workhorses. They will be complemented by 23 Leonardo AW149 multirole helicopters ordered this year.
Boeing is also seeking additional export orders for the CH-47F Block II. Germany and Japan have already decided to buy the variant, and further customers could follow in the coming months.
The Block II version includes structural changes and more powerful engines. Those changes allow the helicopter to carry a larger payload.
The variant also includes improvements intended to support ground maintenance. Boeing says such changes reduce operating costs and shorten the time an aircraft is unavailable for missions.
