Eurofighter Typhoons from the UK’s 1(F) Squadron, stationed at RAF Lossiemouth, and Germany’s Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 71 ‘Richthofen’, based in Wittmund, played a prominent role throughout the exercise. Both units undertook a wide range of high-intensity missions designed to simulate operations in contested and complex airspace.
Key mission areas included Counter Anti-Access/Area Denial (C-A2AD), Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD), and Agile Combat Employment (ACE). These operations tested the aircraft’s capability to respond rapidly and flexibly to evolving threats.
Wing Commander Morris, Officer Commanding 1(F) Squadron, emphasised the value of the training: “Ramstein Flag is a great demonstration of the RAF’s ability to integrate into NATO operations at range. The opportunity to learn from our NATO allies in a high-profile exercise is invaluable.”
Germany’s 71 Tactical Air Wing ‘Richthofen’ further highlighted the Eurofighter’s adaptability by executing both offensive and defensive missions alongside Allied partners. This contributed to improved tactical integration and reinforced the aircraft’s central role in joint air operations.
