Six of these advanced armoured vehicles are expected to arrive in Ukraine by the end of this year, with the remaining six scheduled for delivery in 2025. The Panzerhaubitze 2000 has a firing range of 30 kilometres, making it a significant asset on the battlefield. The total cost for the 12 howitzers is estimated at EUR 150 million.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participated in the opening session of the meeting and took the opportunity to urge for more weapons. “We need more weapons to drive Russian forces off our land and especially in the Donetsk region,” Zelensky said, highlighting the ongoing heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Germany has previously delivered 14 Panzerhaubitze 2000 artillery systems to Ukraine, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country in its defence against Russian aggression.
