According to the Hungarian Defence Forces, during this exercise, Hungarian soldiers engaged stationary and moving targets using the Lynx KF41 vehicle’s 30mm cannon. The ministry noted that the shootings were conducted both while the Lynx KF41 vehicle was in motion and when it was in a stationary position.
In September 2020, the Hungarian Ministry of Defecse inked a significant contract with the German firm Rheinmetall for the procurement of 209 Lynx KF41 vehicles, along with 18 Bergepanzer 3 Büffel vehicles and 38 logistics vehicles based on RMMV trucks. The total value of this agreement exceeds EUR 2 billion.
The initial phase of the contract will see the Hungarian Defence Forces receiving 46 Lynx KF41 vehicles and 9 Bergepanzer 3 Büffel vehicles, all of which will be manufactured at the Rheinmetall plant in Germany.
The remaining vehicles specified in the contract will be produced at Rheinmetall’s recently inaugurated factory in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. As reported by the Defence Industry Europe, the factory was officially launched in August of this year. Deliveries of the first Lynx KF41 vehicles manufactured at the new facility are scheduled to commence in 2024.
