India opens new BrahMos NG supersonic cruise missile manufacturing Facility in Lucknow

By Defence Industry Europe

India has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for BrahMos NG supersonic cruise missiles in Lucknow. The plant will be responsible for assembling the missiles, including integrating booster engines, avionics, fuel tanks, and ramjet engines, as well as conducting weapons testing.

The facility, spread across 200 acres, is reported to have cost India approximately 300 crore INR (around 130 million PLN) to construct. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to produce around 150 BrahMos NG missiles annually.

BrahMos NG missiles are primarily designed for the aircraft of the Indian Air Force (Bhāratīya Vāyu Senā – BVS). Compared to the older BrahMos A variant, these missiles are smaller and lighter, allowing them to be mounted not only on heavier Su-30MKI aircraft but also on lighter BVS fighter jets.

The establishment of the Lucknow facility marks a significant step in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities. The increased production of BrahMos NG missiles is expected to enhance the operational flexibility of the Indian Air Force, ensuring better integration with a wider range of aircraft.
