The facility is designed to accelerate the preparation and testing of experimental payloads for hypersonic systems, reducing the time required for Mach 5+ flight testing. Kratos aims to significantly boost the pace of hypersonic weapons development, providing critical infrastructure for rapid and cost-effective innovation.
With an investment exceeding USD 50 million, the IPIF will create over 100 high-tech jobs with an average annual salary of USD 80,000+. The facility is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026, reinforcing Indiana’s role as a hub for advanced defence technology.
The IPIF will complement Kratos’ existing presence in Indiana, strengthening the company’s position in the defence sector. It also aligns with Kratos’ recent agreement with RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., which established Prometheus Energetics LLC, a U.S.-based supplier of Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs) and other energetics.
Prometheus’ headquarters and production site will be located on a 550-acre campus in Bloomfield, Indiana, as part of ACMI’s National Security Industrial Hub (NSIH). The combined infrastructure developments position Indiana as a key location for hypersonic and advanced defence technology production in the United States.
By investing in state-of-the-art hypersonic testing and integration, Kratos is playing a crucial role in the advancement of next-generation defence systems. The new IPIF will provide the expertise and resources needed to accelerate the development of high-speed weapons, ensuring the U.S. remains at the forefront of hypersonic technology innovation.
