The project is envisioned as a large-scale national security initiative, comparable to the Manhattan Project. Lockheed Martin plans to collaborate across the defence and commercial sectors, ensuring an open-architecture system that allows for innovation and economic growth.
The company has extensive experience in missile defence, already playing a key role in the U.S. Missile Defense System’s command and control network. It has also demonstrated layered defence capabilities in Guam and the Pacific, reinforcing its ability to develop a rapid and effective solution.
The proposed Golden Dome would provide a protective shield against hypersonic missiles, drone swarms, and other airborne threats. Using artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis, the system would detect, track, and neutralise threats with unprecedented speed and accuracy.
President Donald Trump has called for a strengthened homeland defence strategy, and Lockheed Martin asserts that it has the expertise to deliver. With its proven track record in missile defence, the company believes it can help create a powerful, American-made shield to safeguard the nation.
