MBDA showcases advanced missile systems at Aero India 2025

By Defence Industry Europe

From 10th to 14th February 2025, MBDA will exhibit its cutting-edge missile systems at Aero India in Bengaluru. The European missile manufacturer will be present in Hall B, Stand B3.1, underscoring its commitment to India's sovereignty and the 'Make in India' initiative.

For over 50 years, MBDA has provided advanced weaponry to the Indian Armed Forces. The company has worked closely with Indian industry partners, including L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and Defence Public Sector Undertakings such as Bharat Dynamics Limited.

MBDA’s long-standing cooperation model allows it to develop state-of-the-art weaponry by integrating the best technologies and expertise from multiple nations. This collaboration has contributed to India’s self-reliance in defence, with over 50,000 MBDA-designed missiles manufactured in partnership with Indian industry.

At Aero India 2025, MBDA will showcase several advanced missile systems. A highlight will be the Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air missile, which equips India’s Dassault Rafale combat aircraft. Recognised as a game-changer in air combat, the Meteor missile features a unique rocket-ramjet propulsion system, delivering superior range and an expanded no-escape zone compared to other missiles.

Another key exhibit in the air domain will be the ASRAAM missile, known as the world’s fastest close-combat missile. The Indian Air Force’s Jaguar and Tejas combat aircraft are the first to integrate this advanced system, ensuring enhanced air combat capabilities for the country.

In the maritime domain, MBDA will present the Sea Ceptor naval air defence system, which is being proposed for the Indian Navy’s VL SRSAM requirement. Visitors will gain insights into the system’s futuristic technologies, designed to provide robust protection against aerial threats and enhance the security of Indian naval platforms and escorted vessels.

L&T MBDA Missile Systems Ltd, a joint venture between MBDA and Larsen & Toubro, will also participate in the exhibition. The venture supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by producing advanced defence solutions in Coimbatore. In addition to VL SRSAM, MBDA will display the ATGM5 anti-tank missile, a next-generation battlefield weapon designed, developed, and manufactured in India to meet the specific needs of Indian forces.
