The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has placed a substantial order with Swedish defence company Saab for Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon systems and related munitions. The procurement, made on behalf of the Ministries of Defence of The Netherlands and France, supports both countries’ efforts to modernise and strengthen their ground combat capabilities.

Included in the order is the latest Carl-Gustaf M4 system, known for its adaptability and high performance in diverse combat scenarios. A range of advanced ammunition types is also part of the contract, enhancing the system’s operational flexibility.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2025, ensuring timely supply of the newest shoulder-launched systems to Dutch and French armed forces. Saab’s established history with the Carl-Gustaf system highlights its continued relevance and its contribution to NATO-wide interoperability.

“This order further strengthens the position of Carl-Gustaf M4 within NATO and enhances the capability of two of its members,” said Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business area Dynamics. He added: “It’s a clear proof of the value of our solutions and the close relationship between Saab, NSPA and the member nations.”

Since the establishment of the framework agreement with Saab in 2022, NSPA has placed orders totalling €176 million on behalf of seven NATO member states. The current contract reflects the continued cooperation between Saab, NSPA, and the 26 Ammunition Support Partnership member nations, promoting aligned defence capabilities across the Alliance.
