Patria to showcase advanced armoured vehicles at NDIS 2024 in Norway

By Defence Industry Europe

Finnish defence company Patria will participate in the Nordic Defence Industry Seminar 2024 conference and exhibition, taking place from 17th to 19th September at Sundvolden, Norway. The event is organised by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency, the Norwegian Armed Forces, and the Norwegian Defence and Security Industries Association (FSi), and is part of the broader Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) framework.

Patria’s presence at NDIS 2024 focuses on showcasing its involvement in multinational collaboration programmes, specifically the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) and the Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured System (FAMOUS). The company’s stand is located at D103.

Patria 6×6: A Versatile Armoured Vehicle

One of Patria’s key offerings at the event is the Patria 6×6 vehicle, a modular and high-performance armoured vehicle designed for extreme conditions. Known for its simplicity, robustness, and affordability, the Patria 6×6 provides advanced protection and high mobility, making it suitable for a range of missions. Its modular design allows for configurations including Armoured Personnel Carrier, Company Command vehicle, Medical Evacuation vehicle, Heavy APC, and integration with the 120 mm Patria Nemo mortar system.

The Patria 6×6 serves as the platform for the CAVS programme, which currently includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. Deliveries of the Patria 6×6 are ongoing in Latvia, Finland, and Sweden, with the vehicles already in operational use. Patria has received orders for nearly 700 units, with approximately 200 delivered so far. The CAVS programme remains open for other European countries to join.

FAMOUS Concept Vehicle: A New Standard in Mobility

Patria is also presenting its FAMOUS concept vehicle at NDIS 2024, a tracked vehicle developed under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) and the European Defence Fund’s FAMOUS 2 cooperative initiative. First introduced at Eurosatory, this tracked vehicle offers exceptional tactical and operational mobility in challenging conditions, including harsh weather, soft soil, and extreme terrain.

The FAMOUS concept represents a modern, cost-effective alternative to traditional articulated and light tracked vehicles, positioning itself as a significant advancement in armoured vehicle technology.
