The order is a first-time contract with the international customer. Rheinmetall said the deal expands its customer base for the Skynex system, which it describes as a state-of-the-art air defence technology.
The contract covers the delivery of four complete Skynex systems. The overall execution timeline is 39 months.
Delivery of the first Skynex battery is scheduled for 21 months after contract signature. The following batteries will be delivered sequentially, with each delivery taking place six months after completion of the previous one.
The agreement includes trucks, ammunition and a comprehensive Integrated Logistic Support package. Rheinmetall said the package is fully included in the total contract value and is intended to support operational readiness.
The support package covers specialised training, spare parts, special tools and consumables. These elements are designed to help the customer operate and sustain the systems after delivery.
Rheinmetall Italia is acting as the prime contractor for the project. Rheinmetall Air Defence, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles and Rheinmetall Weapon and Munitions in Switzerland are also involved in delivering the systems.
Skynex is a gun-based air defence system designed for very short-range defence. Rheinmetall said it can counter a wide range of modern threats, including unmanned aerial systems and rocket, artillery and mortar threats.
The company described the order as a significant milestone for the technology. Rheinmetall said the contract underscores its leading role in next-generation short-range air defence systems.
