The Sirius Compact, first introduced in 2022, has quickly gained traction in the defence market. Designed and manufactured in Finland, it offers cutting-edge capabilities for detecting, geo-locating, classifying, and prioritising hostile radar and communication emitters. Saab has significant deliveries of the system scheduled for 2025, highlighting its strong market reception.
Kristian Tornivaara, Managing Director of Saab Finland, emphasised the company’s expanding presence in the country. “Saab’s footprint is growing in Finland with a focus on research and development operations in the field of electronic warfare. This initiative underscores Saab’s commitment to providing cutting-edge defence solutions to customers,” Tornivaara stated.
Saab currently employs over 200 people across Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku, with plans for further recruitment as operations expand. The company is not only investing in the Sirius Compact line but also delivering sensor network capabilities and threat library management tools to support customers’ tactical Electronic Support Measures (ESM) operations.
The Sirius Compact sensor family, designed for land, air, and naval domains, enhances situational awareness by enabling the detection and analysis of hostile emitters. This development is expected to bolster Saab’s role as a leader in electronic warfare technology while contributing to Finland’s defence sector.
