According to SFC Energy, the order covers combat-proven off-grid hybrid energy systems designed for both military and civilian applications. The systems combine fuel cells and batteries to provide resilient and decentralised power supplies for operational forces, communications systems, navigation equipment, reconnaissance technology and unmanned platforms such as drones.
The company stated that the highly mobile systems are intended to support rapid deployment and sustained operations in demanding environments. SFC Energy added that the systems’ low thermal and acoustic signatures provide operational advantages by improving stealth capabilities and enhancing personnel safety.
According to the company, the fuel cell systems also reduce logistical requirements compared with conventional battery-powered solutions. SFC Energy said the reduced need for consumables lowers transport weight and volume while creating additional capacity for mission-critical supplies including food, water and ammunition.
The company announced that local structures for training, service and technical support will be established in coordination with the Ukraine Task Force of the German Federal Ministry of Defence. According to SFC Energy, the initiative is intended to support long-term use of the systems for both military operations and civilian reconstruction efforts beyond 2026.
Peter Podesser, chief executive of SFC Energy, said, “We thank Ukraine for its trust and are proud to be able to make a meaningful and important contribution as part of the German Federal Government’s Enablement Initiative.”
“Following the successful deployment of our solutions under real-world conditions, we are supporting the forces with combat-proven, highly mobile systems,” Podesser added. “These combine a high degree of self-sufficiency, long runtime, and an extremely low signature. This provides clear tactical advantages while simultaneously increasing the safety of the forces.”
Podesser stated that the company is also establishing local support and value-chain structures following the recent visit of Boris Pistorius to Ukraine. According to the company, these structures are intended to support both defence requirements and civilian applications linked to reconstruction activities.
“At the same time, particularly in light of the recent visit by German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius to Ukraine, we are laying the foundation for the sustainable deployment of our technologies by establishing local support and value chain structures for both military settings and civilian applications as well as reconstruction efforts beyond 2026,” Podesser said.
“Our solutions enable a reliable energy supply for a broad range of applications – from portable and mobile systems to critical infrastructure,” he added. “The record order strengthens our leading position in the defense and security market and highlights the potential of our technology in protecting critical infrastructure as well. Against this backdrop, we are raising our forecast for the 2026 financial year.”
Following the contract award, SFC Energy raised its financial outlook for 2026. The company said it now expects group sales between €163 million and €175 million, adjusted EBITDA between €29 million and €34 million, and adjusted EBIT between €20.5 million and €25.5 million.
