Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko, recently held discussions with a delegation from the Defence Industry Agency of the Italian Ministry of Defence. The talks centred on the potential use of revenues from frozen Russian assets to procure Italian-made air defence systems and related ammunition.

Brigadier General Klochko highlighted Ukraine’s interest in a range of ammunition and air defence systems. He stressed the importance of understanding the costs and delivery timelines to ensure timely support for Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

The Deputy Minister also expressed gratitude to Italy for its ongoing support since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. During the meeting, Klochko, along with officials from Ukraine’s Ministry of Strategic Industry and General Staff, reviewed the capabilities of Italian defence companies.

Marcello Mele, representing the Italian Defence Industry Agency, provided an overview of the agency’s key activities and outlined mechanisms for potential collaboration. The Italian delegation affirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and ensuring effective use of EU resources to enhance Ukraine’s defence and industrial capacities.

Both parties agreed to explore the creation of joint industrial projects as a step toward deepening cooperation. Further efforts will focus on turning these discussions into actionable initiatives.
