BAE Systems’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) has made its debut in the Middle East at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. The showcase marks a key step in the company’s international expansion strategy, highlighting the ACV’s adaptability for military operations worldwide.

Designed for both land and water-based operations, the ACV is built to withstand rugged terrain and open-sea conditions. BAE Systems, in partnership with Iveco Defence Vehicles, has combined expertise in amphibious warfare and armoured vehicle production to create a highly capable platform.

Rebecca McGrane, Vice President of Amphibious Programs at BAE Systems, described the ACV as a “trailblazer for amphibious warfare” with the potential to evolve and meet future mission requirements. The vehicle’s 8×8 design provides a balance of water mobility and land performance, ensuring operational effectiveness in complex environments.

The ACV family consists of four variants tailored to different battlefield roles. The ACV-P (Personnel) transports 13 fully equipped Marines and three crew members, while the ACV-C (Command) offers advanced situational awareness with multiple workstations. The ACV-30mm features a stabilised medium-calibre weapon system for increased firepower, and the ACV-R (Recovery) provides field maintenance and repair support.

Beyond combat applications, the ACV is also designed for humanitarian missions, capable of navigating flood zones and disaster-stricken areas. Its ability to transport personnel and essential supplies makes it a valuable asset for emergency response and relief efforts.
