Hanwha Aerospace and WB Group sign MoU to produce artillery rockets in Poland

By Defence Industry Europe

South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace and Poland's WB Group have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the production of artillery rockets in Poland. The agreement was formalised on the sidelines of the MSPO 2024 defence exhibition in Kielce, Poland.

Under the terms of the MoU, Hanwha Aerospace and WB Group will cooperate in the manufacturing of 80-km-range guided missiles, known as CGR-80, for the K239 Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS). This collaboration will involve the relevant transfer of technology, marking a strategic step towards bolstering Poland’s defence capabilities through local production.

The agreement also outlines plans for the potential establishment of a joint venture between the two companies, aimed at producing additional types of artillery ammunition. Discussions are expected to focus on further expanding the scope of cooperation beyond guided missiles, enhancing the industrial partnership between South Korea and Poland.

This latest development underscores Hanwha Aerospace’s commitment to strengthening its industrial ties with Poland and delivering advanced weapons systems. Hanwha Aerospace has been actively involved in supplying the Polish Armed Forces with hundreds of Chunmoo artillery systems, following a framework agreement signed in 2022. The Chunmoo systems have been integrated with advanced communication and fire control systems provided by WB Group, a key partner in this collaboration.
