NSPA hosted the latest SDPR Consolidation Workshops in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from 21 to 23 July. The three-day meeting brought together NATO and Ukrainian defence, procurement and government officials to refine the review and identify new areas of work.
The Strategic Defence Procurement Review was first announced at NATO’s Washington Summit in 2024. NSPA has played a central role in the initiative since its launch through the agency’s Support to Operations Directorate.
The Ostrava workshops produced 10 new project ideas intended to connect procurement reform directly with military planning and industrial priorities. NSPA said the discussions focused in particular on the architecture of Ukraine’s defence procurement system.
The meeting also enabled coordination between Ukrainian ministries involved in defence acquisition and planning. NSPA said the discussions helped align Ukraine’s approach with practices used by NATO partners.
Ukrainian Member of Parliament Olena Khomenko highlighted the importance of holding SDPR events regularly. She also praised the organisers and participants for their preparation and substantive contributions.
Participants also recognised NSPA’s organisation, professional moderation and technical expertise during the workshops. The agency described the event as an important stage in the wider Strategic Defence Procurement Review process.
The 10 new concepts will form part of NATO and Ukraine’s continuing work on defence procurement reform. The process is intended to connect acquisition structures with broader defence planning and industrial strategy rather than treating procurement as a separate function.
