Commander Bengt Berdal, squadron commander of the Royal Norwegian Navy, expressed confidence in the new system, highlighting its reliability and performance. He described the SONAC ACS as one of the most sophisticated influence minesweeping systems in service today, reinforcing Norway’s position at the forefront of naval mine warfare technology.
Patria SONAC ACS is designed to effectively clear influence minefields by simulating ship acoustics with high precision. The system produces high sound pressure across a broad frequency range, enabling it to outsmart advanced mine algorithms and operate efficiently in different minesweeping modes.
Developed using Patria’s expertise in vessel signature measurement and mine countermeasures, the system offers remote operation capabilities. Operators can select pre-configured acoustic signals from a library or design custom signals to suit mission requirements, all through a user-friendly interface.
The compact and lightweight design of the SONAC ACS system ensures seamless integration into modern unmanned surface vessel (USV) operations. Its advanced handling and ease of operation make it a valuable asset in the evolving landscape of naval defence and mine countermeasures.
