Boeing sets new production records for PAC-3 missile seekers amid rising global demand

By Defence Industry Europe

Boeing announced record-breaking production of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) seekers in 2024, with more than 500 units delivered during the year. In early 2025, the company also achieved new monthly and rolling annual production highs, reflecting rising global demand for advanced air defence systems.

The PAC-3 seeker enables the interceptor to detect, track and neutralise threats such as enemy aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Boeing plans to further expand production this year and beyond to meet growing international security needs.

Construction of a new 35,000-square-foot (3,300-square-metre) facility expansion is expected to be completed this spring. Once operational, the site will significantly boost production capacity and efficiency for future output.

“We know that service members and civilians are increasingly depending on us to deliver this critical component for the world’s best air defense system,” said Jim Bryan, Director of Integrated Air & Missile Defense at Boeing. “This capability exemplifies our air and missile defense expertise, which we can leverage to address major challenges, such as America’s next-generation homeland defense shield and more.”

Boeing has invested in modernising its facilities with advanced technologies, including automated inspection tools and robotic soldering systems. These upgrades support improved manufacturing processes, enhanced production controls, and higher first-time quality.

As a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin, Boeing supplies PAC-3 seekers to the U.S. Army and allied nations around the world. Currently, seventeen countries operate PAC-3 interceptors, including Ukraine, which recently joined the list of users.
