Representatives from four defence companies—SIMA Innovation, KNDS France, KNDS Germany, and Defenture B.V.—joined military officials from four nations for the demonstration. This multinational gathering aimed to evaluate how these systems performed together in operational scenarios, combining live fire exercises with terrain manoeuvres.
The event provided valuable insights into enhancing interoperability between European defence systems. “This was an important opportunity to exchange experiences and foster closer collaboration within the European defence sector,” a representative commented. Such initiatives are seen as critical to developing a competitive and reliable European defence industry.
The demonstration was organised under DALO’s “Open for Business” strategy, a long-standing initiative to promote Danish defence industry capabilities. In the current global climate, marked by increasing focus on supply chain resilience, such efforts have gained even greater importance.
In November, DALO’s land division signed a new framework agreement with SIMA Innovation for the maintenance and expansion of its M18 ringmount system. Already in use on Denmark’s PIRANHA 5 vehicles, the system will now also be integrated into other platforms, including military trucks. The agreement opens avenues for other nations to procure the system under similar terms, enhancing opportunities for shared European defence solutions.
“The framework agreement and this event in Oksbøl illustrate the potential for joint European solutions in defence procurement,” said a DALO spokesperson. Such collaborations are expected to bolster the European defence industry’s market understanding and future innovation capabilities.
The demonstration highlighted not just the cutting-edge technology but also the atmosphere of cooperation among attendees. While the event captured the attention of participants, the biting December winds, the scent of gunpowder, and the crack of supersonic rounds added an unforgettable sensory experience to the day.
