Poland’s defence procurement agency has signed a contract with a consortium of state-owned companies, led by PGZ Group, for a second batch of domestically developed Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles. Under the contract, PGZ will deliver 146 Borsuk vehicles to the Polish Armed Forces by 2030.

The deal is valued at approximately EUR 1.8 billion, or PLN 7.5 billion, and will be financed by a European loan granted to Poland under the SAFE instrument.

As Defence Industry Europe reported, PGZ secured the initial contract for the serial production of Borsuk combat vehicles in March 2025. Under that agreement, the Polish Land Forces are to receive a total of 111 vehicles by the end of 2029.

The Borsuk is a Polish-developed, state-of-the-art infantry fighting vehicle equipped with the ZSSW-30 remote-controlled turret system, armed with a Bushmaster Mk44S 30mm automatic cannon and a launcher for Spike anti-tank guided missiles.

The Borsuk is the only European infantry fighting vehicle capable of floating, a feature resulting from specific requirements set by the Polish Armed Forces.

PGZ Group has recently begun pitching the Borsuk on the European defence market, with the aim of securing its first export contract. Earlier this month, during the IDEB international defence exhibition in Bratislava, PGZ presented an export version of the Borsuk equipped with a light turret system developed by Slovak defence company EVPÚ.
