The Department of War announced the agreement on Sept. 17, marking another recent production award for the H-60M family. The entire contract is financed from the Army budget.
The order was placed through an existing multiyear agreement between Lockheed Martin and the Department of War. That framework covers potential purchases of up to 916 UH-60M helicopters for U.S. forces and international customers.
The agreement supports orders placed through the end of 2027, including exports conducted under the Foreign Military Sales process. It gives the Army and approved overseas buyers a common route for continued Black Hawk procurement.
Lockheed Martin and the department are also negotiating a follow-on multiyear agreement that may remain in force through the end of 2033. The discussions reflect continued demand for the helicopter from both the U.S. military and export customers.
The Army is using further orders to sustain its fleet and replace aircraft lost during operations. At the same time, its analysis indicates that the future Bell MV-75A will not be needed for every mission now assigned to H-60M helicopters.
The latest award therefore extends near-term deliveries while negotiations continue over the programme’s longer production outlook. A new multiyear agreement would allow Black Hawk orders to continue beyond the current framework.
