By Defence Industry Europe

Northrop Grumman and Danish technology company Terma have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further their collaboration on a range of advanced defence capabilities. This partnership will focus on key areas including the F-35 Lightning II programme, uncrewed aerial systems, electronic warfare, radar systems, and missile defence.

The MoU reinforces Northrop Grumman’s long-standing commitment to Denmark, NATO, and the security of the United States and its allies. Both companies have a history of working together, with Terma serving as a principal partner in the global F-35 programme, contributing to the aircraft’s development, production, and sustainment.

Under the new agreement, Northrop Grumman and Terma will explore further opportunities for collaboration. This includes plans to engage more frequently and support the growth of Danish small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in joining global defence supply chains. By fostering these partnerships, the companies aim to expand access to advanced technologies and strengthen the defence industrial base in Denmark.

Steve O’Bryan, Corporate Vice President and Global Business Development Officer at Northrop Grumman, commented: “Our agreement with Terma will help strengthen the defence industrial base in Denmark, leading to expanded access to advanced technologies and differentiated capabilities for U.S. and allied forces.”

Terma’s Executive Vice President for Government and Partnerships, Steen Lynenskjold, echoed this sentiment: “Our longstanding and strong relationship with Northrop Grumman continues to grow, and we are excited to further deepen this partnership across multiple areas. As Terma targets substantial growth both at home and abroad, maintaining strong ties with key industry leaders is crucial for us.”

The F-35 Lightning II programme remains a cornerstone of the partnership. Northrop Grumman plays a vital role in developing and producing the aircraft, contributing elements such as the centre fuselage and advanced radar systems. Terma, as a key supplier, provides more than 80 mission-critical components for the F-35.

Northrop Grumman is a global leader in aerospace and defence technology, offering pioneering solutions designed to enhance security and push the boundaries of human exploration. Through this partnership, both companies aim to contribute to the security and technological advancement of Denmark and its allies.
